THE SENSES PROJECT

What is it like to come back to your senses?

Every piece in this project begins before a single drop of paint is mixed, nor a photo is taken. It begins with a conversation. Who is this person? What are they carrying? What have they survived, built, lost, reached toward? What do they share with the rest of us?

The work that follows translates that inner landscape through painting, photography, and digital composition into something visible. The person is not a model. They are a collaborator. Their story is the raw material, and the finished work belongs to both of us.

Senses has been in development for over sixteen years. Season II includes 27 new collaborators. The project sits at the intersection of contemporary art, wellness, and the question of what the human body can express when it is no longer being used to sell something.

Senses Season II

Every collaborator brings their own story. The process makes it visible.

The experience is transformational for everyone involved.

Before starting the session, Amanda admitted to struggling with her OCD. It had been so bad the morning of the shoot that she contemplated cancelling the session.

We challenged the compulsive voice, altered the pitch in her mind, allowed her to step and heel the effect of it, and shine through the session to capture it as art.

Shared with Amanda's permission.

“The best way to describe working with Vesa is transcendence. Our personal and professional stories were integrated into hours of creation in flow. Most people think that the power of art lies in its ability to bring people together, but at its core, art returns us to ourselves. It connects us with our most vulnerable and ecstatic emotions, elevating the human experience beyond survival into a shared journey, into transcendence.”
